Meet Jalal

Jalal Abdallah was born and raised in Michigan’s 15th House District. It’s where his roots were planted, where he learned what hard work looks like, and where he’s now raising his family. Jalal became a lawyer because he wanted to help people when the system wasn’t working the way it should, but case after case showed him the same problem: too often, families were dealing with challenges created by bad policy or priorities set far away from the people affected by them. Jalal is running to represent the 15th District because he believes our community deserves leadership that understands both the law and the people it serves, driving a commitment to bring our priorities to Lansing and work with local leaders to deliver real results.

“This district deserves leadership that understands where we come from and is ready to fight for where we’re going. I was born and raised here, and now I’m raising my own family here. My goal is simple: to make sure our neighborhoods remain places where every family has a real chance to build a safe, healthy, and successful life.”

Deep Roots in the 15th District

Jalal's Story

Jalal was raised by immigrant parents who ran a small business, working long hours to support their family. Seeing the grit, determination, and perseverance of his parents shaped how he sees the world. Jalal learned early what it means to take responsibility and how to rely on your community when things get tough.

He attended Lowrey Elementary and Middle School, graduated from Fordson High School and went on to earn his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. After graduating from Cooley Law School, Jalal clerked downtown while studying for the bar exam. He worked for Sugar Law, gaining experience in nonprofit and labor law before briefly working in the public defenders office. In 2021, he opened a family-owned law practice so he could serve people in the same community that raised him.

Fast forward to today, Jalal works as an attorney handling family law, personal injury and personal injury cases. Outside of work, Jalal serves on the Dearborn Historical Commission and stays active in the local community on various boards. Most importantly, he’s a husband and proud girl dad. Becoming a father has only strengthened Jalal’s commitment to making sure our district remains a place where families can build and set roots for future generations.

Fighting for You in Lansing

Why Jalal is Running

Jalal is running because he holds a deep belief that our community deserves leadership that actually listens. He understands that Dearborn and Dearborn Heights share many of the same challenges and strengths, but recognizes that too often, decisions are made without fully understanding how they affect people here. Jalal believes that progress comes from working together; supporting local leaders, securing the resources our community needs, and making sure our community is met with real investment.

Jalal is not running with an agenda from Lansing, he’s running to bring the district’s priorities to Lansing. He is committed to strong policy shaped by conversations with residents, small business owners, educators, and community leaders.

As an attorney and proud history aficionado, Jalal spends his days reading the fine print and understanding how legislation plays out in real life. He holds a deep understanding of which policies help working families, and which ones, unfortunately, fall short. With a focus on education, infrastructure, labor protections and accessible benefits, Jalal is ready to fight for practical solutions in Lansing to deliver real results. He believes that government should be practical, focused and held accountable to its constituents. This belief leads Jalal to bring the same preparation and persistence he brings to the courtroom to Lansing, fighting for the people who call the 15th district home, enabling them to carry their district with as much pride as Jalal does.
